Dubai RTA Announces Metro Trip Changes Starting August 3
Part of the Dubai Metro services that have been affected include changes in the service hours and operations with the RTA stating that they will implement all the changes on the 3rd of August 2024. These changes are mainly caused by reconstruction and modernization works which are to enhance effectiveness and longevity of the metro system.
Impacted Stations and Service Adjustments
The maintenance will affect both the Red and Green lines, resulting in limited service across several stations. For the Red Line, the following segments will be operational:
- Centre-point Station to GGICO Station
- BurJuman Station to World Trade Centre Station
- Jebel Ali Station to Expo 2020 Station
Members of the public are advised that up-to-date information in relation to disruptions can be found through the official RTA social media pages. Although there has been disruption of train services, the authority has also provided for shuttle services for buses at these stations to ease transportation during this period.

Weather-Related Disruptions
Also more current weather conditions continue to cause more trouble in Red and Green line services. The RTA has put some measures in the short term to protect the passengers and sustain the services under unfavourable weather conditions. These measures include operational tests and service frequency trials with the train moving without passengers to give correct journey time estimates and to make sure that there is a seamless transfer from one station to the other.
Reopening of Stations
A development that has worked in the RTA’s favor is that it has been able to undertake and complete maintenance on several stations before the set time. Even on ‘reopening’, Onpassive, Equiti as well as Mashreq stations were to reopen on the 28 May 2024; however, the stations have opened early as 19 May 2024. This early reopening is one of the continuous improvements pursued by the RTA in order to increase the efficiency of the metro’s operations and guarantee its availability to the public.
