UAE Flag Day Celebrating Unity and Pride
On Flag Day, celebrated every year on November 3, the UAE pays tribute to its flag. It is a day the brings all Emiratis together with pride and loyalty to our country. Raising a flag is not all this day is about! The symbol of unity, strength and resilience of the UAE.
This tradition was started in 2013 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Since then, both citizens and residents have embraced Flag Day. They bring to light their love for the country and their leadership. It reminds everybody that the UAE have come so far. From small states to a strong and majorized federation. And the flag — red, green, white, black — is so much more than words. It is UAE’s progress, ambition and unity.

At 11 am people in the country come together to raise the flag. It happens in schools and government offices and in the homes. It is not just a display act. Such a message of cohesion and patriotism is sent. The young and old look back and look forward to the future in reflecting on the nation’s achievements. They invite students to participate. This helps to help build a sense of duty, pride, connection to their heritage. They say such public celebrations are important to the strength of the community. This is helpful because people want to feel like they belong and so is our success as a country.
The UAE stands for its diversity and inclusivity. Flag Day is a great example of this spirit. The UAE is a day for everybody – citizens, residents and visitors – to feel involved. It provides leaders with an opportunity to reengage with the country’s values. Inclusion of tolerance, unity and innovation into these values. Recently, leaders have demonstrated that real success can come from these values. It can be seen in any technological breakthrough, in economic development and in social development.
