Dubai Teen Launches Free Tutoring Platform

A Dubai teenager has launched a free platform to tutor students across the world. Launched by 17 year old Armaan Singh, the platform also has free academic support available in subjects like math, science and languages. The point of this is to cut some of the high costs of education and hopefully help students in any financial situation.

While run by volunteers; students and professionals, they spend time helping out others. Through technology, it brings personalized and one on one tutoring sessions thereby improving learning and making it very flexible. At times that they suit their schedules, students can get help.

In the UAE, private tutoring costs more than AED 300 per hour, which make it difficult for many parents to afford it. Armaan’s platform responds to this need by connecting students in Dubai and beyond with free support. Currently the platform has a number of users over 500 active students.

Video Conferencing, Digital Whiteboards and File Sharing are combined to create an interactive learning environment. Using this method for doing your calculations keeps the students engaged and helps them to follow along. Armaan’s vision includes using technology to make education more accessible, such that no student should be left behind because they can’t afford it.

Additionally, volunteers from the platform include students, professionals, and educators. Many students also want to become tutors. This makes for a virtuous cycle of learning and returning, of community with a sense that education ought to be a human right.

His plans include how to expand the offerings of the platform to more life skills as well, such as time management, or communication. He also wants to partner with local schools to bring more of those underserved students to the museum.
